Almost Sold-Out Ruisrock Announces New Artists – Including Rap Duo Rae Sremmurd
Tickets to Ruisrock, held in Turku from 6–8 July 2018, have sold at a record pace, and many ticket types have been sold out. Tickets are still available for Friday and Sunday.
Five new names have been added to the Ruisrock program. Formed by the American brothers Swae Lee and Slim Jxmmi, hip hop duo Rae Sremmurd will take the festival stage on Friday, 6th July. The highly trending band has released singles this spring from its much-anticipated third album, which will be accompanied by solo albums from both artists.
Combining hip hop and trap, Rae Sremmurd leaped directly to the heart of the music scene in 2014 with its debut single No Flex Zone, which has been remixed by world-class artists from Nicki Minaj to Pusha T. The brothers have collaborated with e.g. Gucci Mane and Lil Jon, and the band’s best-known hits Black Beatles and Swang have been played hundreds of millions of times on Spotify. The single Powerglide from the upcoming album SR3MM was released in spring and also features rap artist Juicy J.
Ruisrock tickets have been sold at a record pace this spring. In terms of standard tickets, the one-day tickets for Saturday were sold out already in early March, and as of this week, three-day tickets and two-day tickets for Friday–Saturday and Saturday–Sunday are no longer available. Tickets are still available for Friday and Sunday in Tiketti.
Contemporary Finnish Additions to the Program
The Finnish artist line-up of Ruisrock will be reinforced by Jenni Vartiainen, Kasmir, Gettomasa, and the singer-songwriter duo Ida Paul & Kalle Lindroth.
One of the most successful Finnish artists of the 21st century, Jenni Vartiainen released her new single Väärään suuntaan in February, and her much-anticipated fourth studio album will be released later on this year. New music will also be heard from Kasmir whose second studio album Valmis instantly topped the official album chart following its release in the spring.
A contemporary Finnish addition to the rap artists of the festival, Gettomasa is known for his honest lyrics. He is one of the most-followed artists in Finland in his genre, and his single Lössi, released in the beginning of this year, continues his trademark outspoken style. More recent Finnish music artists are represented by the duo Ida Paul & Kalle Lindroth, nominated as Newcomer of the Year in Emma Gaala this spring. The duo's debut album Nää kaikki kertoo susta went platinum from streaming already before its release, and the streamed singles have all reached either gold or platinum status.
The Ruisrock program will be updated with new acts during spring. The main international performers at the festival include, among others, The Chainsmokers (US), Marshmello, N.E.R.D (US), and Dua Lipa. The top Finnish names include Cheek, Alma, Disco Ensemble, and JVG.
