N.E.R.D Headed by Pharrell Williams to Perform at Ruisrock

Up-and-coming Lil Xan and Stig Dogg, who has made a comeback, add to the festival’s lineup of artists who are on everyone’s lips. Ruisrock will be celebrated in Turku from 6–8 July 2018.

Ruisrock has confirmed that the American band N.E.R.D will be one of its leading performers. Formed by Grammy award-winning producer-artists Pharrell Williams and Chad Hugo and percussionist Shae Haley, the cult band released the album NO_ONE EVER REALLY DIES last year after a break of seven years. Combining rock and funk elements, the hip hop group takes a strong stand on the political and social climate of its home country on the album. The album features collaboration with Kendrick Lamar and Ed Sheeran and includes the hit single Lemon (feat. Rihanna). The band’s leading figure Williams has been seen at Ruisrock before, when he made the festival audience go wild on his solo gig in 2015.

In addition to N.E.R.D, the international artist lineup of the festival will be complemented by the up-and-coming rap artist Lil Xan (US) who made a huge splash last year with his single “Betrayed” and its music video. The artist’s first tour was sold out in five hours, and his debut album, released next month, also features the hand of DJ-producer Diplo, among others.

A new Finnish addition to the Ruisrock program is Stig Dogg who has just made a comeback. The artist recently released a new playlist featuring the visiting artists JVG, Kube, Eevil Stöö, Pyhimys, and Vesta. The gig at Ruisrock is one of only a handful of shows that Stig Dogg will be doing this summer.

More additions to the Ruisrock program will be revealed during spring. The festival has already confirmed e.g. The Chainsmokers (US), Marshmello, Dua Lipa (UK), Alan Walker (NO), Clean Bandit (UK), First Aid Kit (SE), Rag’n’Bone Man (UK), Tyler, the Creator (US), and Years & Years (UK). Finnish artists performing at the festival include Cheek, Alma, Disco Ensemble, Haloo Helsinki!, Ismo Alanko, JVG, Kaija Koo, SANNI, and Sunrise Avenue. See the entire programme.
